Jalsa Roots was born out of a love of journaling and a simple mission; keeping you connected to your roots. Based in the outskirts of London (UK) we launched in 2024 with our distinct ‘Grandparent Memory Journal’ range

Our Story

As the saying goes ‘you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone’. After losing my last grandparent, this could not have been truer ...

As an avid journaler for my own life, I was really eager to remember and learn about my grandparents' experiences. As they had also migrated in early adulthood I quickly realised how much harder it was to learn about their unique cultural journeys. I tried to patch pieces of information together, but the vividness of their rich lives were fading. I hadn’t captured their memories when I had the chance and I couldn’t just ‘google’ this stuff, it was gone.

I started to see how many of my friends and family shared a similar desire to cherish their grandparent’s memories. Many were lucky enough to still have their grandparents around. With this powerful motivating force, I made the exciting decision to create my own journals with the aim to keep their grandparent's stories alive. After hearing how much they loved the journals, I’m thankful to have the chance to share this valuable gift now with a wider audience.

At Jalsa Roots, we are passionate about helping you nurture the relationship with yourself and others through the powerful benefits of journaling. We will expand our range of journals, always with the aim that they may one day become your heirlooms. But I am proud to say, the one that started it all was a journal particularly close to our heart – our grandparent memory journal.
